Creating a Learning Playlist on MentorMob

Summary of the Lesson Plan
MentorMob is an online tool that falls in the class of web curators. It offers both teachers and students an opportunity to create a learning playlist of resources they deem appropriate for the unit, course or subject. For instance, a teacher of elementary students can use this tool and refer learners to it for reference and further exercise. Thus, it helps them to remix curriculum by including web resources.
Instructions ought to be planned before commencing the playlist. This is done by browsing the net and collecting URLs and descriptions of resources that will fit in the playlist. Other documents such as job aids, handouts, or graphics relevant to the playlist are created. Afterwards, a step by step process outlined and relevant resources are inserted in their appropriate places. The playlist is flexible and can be adjusted latter according to different individuals’ preferences. When your plan is complete, you can click, “Create.”
Consequently, fill information on the playlist that you have created. This is critical because it helps other users to know what precisely they should anticipate from it. In the privacy setting, you have an option to set the playlist to be available either privately or publically. When done, save the information and click, “Create” again.
If an intermediate screen displays with permission to contribute to the already existing playlist, click, “Continue” to ignore the option and move on.

When an empty playlist opens up with a green “+” sign, click it add the prerequisite steps. After you are satisfied with your lesson, exit the edit mode by clicking, “Edit On.” Thus, you will have successfully created a MentorMob playlist ready to be shared with your students in the class.
NGSSS
The specific NGSSS that the lesson aligns itself with is Practice. Though NGSSS is a trio-dimension model for evaluation and assessment of learning tools, it employs, Practices dimension more than any other standard. MentorMob is appropriate for students since it introduces them to the practical bit of learning and working. MentorMob cannot be taught in a class without having computers to show them how to use. It demands the immediate application of the knowledge acquired. As the students engage with the digital technology, they become acquainted with doing their research and publication in various areas. Though the teacher is the designer of the tool and one who mostly utilizes it in creating resources, students also need to know its application for productivity so that they can be able to access the assignment or quiz when a teacher posts it. Core ideas and crosscutting concepts are the other aspects of NGSSS which are slightly reflected in the lesson. As the elementary students become knowledgeable in the application of the playlist creation, they also acquire the expertise to utilize computers for valid educational purposes.
3-R Reflection
Though the procedure for a playlist creation is a bit tedious, it is crucial for students’ success. I prefer the process because it is practical. Since students have a higher affinity towards what they hear, see, and touch; they are likely to pass in their assessment because the MentorMob tool is a composition of all. Again, they shall acquire experience as their hands become used to the system. This will give them an upper hand when it comes to their exams and promotion. Thus my response towards the educational tool is favorable. For example, the procedural step by step process of creating a playlist makes the class interactive and effective for students to grasp the information.
I think the website is relevant to advance appropriate skills to the students. It eases the work of the instructor by allowing him/her offer notes and assignments online when absent from school. The playlist created and shared with the students acts as a reference for the work learned and gives an option to view or read the related articles, documents or/and watch the video if there is any. Students can apply the same concept to capturing other discussions made earlier or later in the class. Depending on the language used, one can translate the content by modifying to display it in various styles. For example, work out the homework, communicated by the teacher as the pop quiz.
The information acquired in this class will be beneficial to elementary students access their homework. It is useful in preparing resources for long-term references. It is also necessary because it assists in reducing the time used to write resources handily. I will use the tool to classify and categorize my learning materials for easy revision.
