Performance anxiety in sports is the reduction in performance that is created by excessive perceived stress. Perceived tension often develop in participants because of the presence of a variety of enthusiastic audience or when they have high expectations to excel in the game. Most important, anxiety is how the athlete perceives it and when it is negative it can result in a response of fear or make a person to freeze (Jones, 1995). When I freeze while participating in sports, my performance is affected and hence the need to adopt strategies to reduce the level of anxiety. The most effective approach is to identify when I am feeling anxious especially by the tension in my muscles such as jaw tightening or making numerous errors. Any abnormal behavior from me should give the coach or instructor an opportunity to ask how I am feeling. The thoughts that I have as a sports person is directly linked to performance anxiety, and therefore I must always be positive. Cognitive learning theory will be important since my brain should assist in reducing the reactions from the body that creates tension. The metacognitive learning strategy will help me to apply a reflective thought to explore my strengths and use them appropriately.

As an athlete, I set a goal in my life to train and ensure that I appear the first among all the participants whom we have been competing with regularly. Often I appeared the third position out of the 100 meters athletes in the competition.

I had a target to increase in performance and be the first out of the participants. I needed to train to be successful through applying the theory of internal locus of control where I had to understand that outcomes are determined by what an individual does (Korengel, 2018). I needed to believe in self-efficacy by correctly developing on my muscles to enhance sprinting through regular exercises with my friends and also create extra time. An internal locus of control within me triggered anticipation of becoming the best among the athletes, and I believed I had all that it takes to the best among the athletes. On the occasion day, I appeared with a lot of strength considering that in whatever I do, it must be diligent and achieved through self-efficacy. I knew the outcome would be dependent on how much regularly I have practiced and engaged my muscles. Surprisingly, through the theory of internal locus of control, I managed to the best out of the athletes.

Not vague, I believe you are on the right path, and I can see you are determined to achieve your goal. Setting up a new program requires consistent support from an external body, and for your case, already you are contacting an outside organization. The only problem that occurs while explaining your goal is that you are not specific to the target. You should explain to me that particular niche within your unit since there are several niches in the unit and you cannot handle all of them. If it is a project of training clients, you need to state it in the first case so that the audience understands what discussion you are to offset. I am impressed with how much you have applied the theory of need for achievement through intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The theory is well explained, and it correlates to your target (LeUnes & Nation, 2008). In the first case, intrinsic motivation has inspired you to continue working on the project through regular pieces of training to deliver to the clients. Extrinsic motivation came from the outside organization and the experts who inspired you to continue with the project by assisting. I advise you to keep staying focused and diligently apply the principle of the need for achievement to accomplish your set targets.

It is a form of post-traumatic therapy, and in the case, you have provided I don’t comprehend what drives the soldiers to undertake the training (LeUnes, 2008). Besides, it is important to note that the first step is to identify a problem, and in your case, the soldiers are not even aware of why they are going through the training.

However, it is incomplete since you have explained broadly on one element of the process which is removing fear response, but you have not discussed how to substitute the relation response. Another area that you have not mentioned is on the phases of treatment that the patient must go through (LeUnes, 2008). You have not mentioned the stages such as muscle relaxation and how to work a way through the hierarchy. You have only mentioned on the way in which a patient should develop a hierarchy of fear beginning with the least anxiety to the highest fear-provoking insights. You have also provided the best solution but failing to mention on the other two phases implies that the client is not assisted as according to their expectations.
