Investing in the Security & Defense Sector
Security and defense is a major sector of the economy that needs to be seriously invested in with the full support of the government. Devon Talbot from the video says that defense sector is a monopsony in that it can only be bought by the US government only and it can be challenging to a customer since it will go for the best security and defense services (The Aspen Institute, 2012). When people are investing in this sector, however, they need to perform customer analysis which the government thus it’s good to understand what it wants. However, this sector has some bearers that limit its entry such as security clearances and technical capabilities.
All the different companies and forces that have been established by the government to deal with security and defense in the country may have common things that they share. However, they may have different reasons for whatever they do such as supporting their foundation. Education programs are being established to educate people on cybercrime that can be done through computers and mobile phones (The Aspen Institute, 2012). However, this can be achieved if the private sector is also included since it owns some of the best infrastructures that can be used to carry out crimes. The programs that are being established on technology do not only focus on external threats to the country but also internal; they are meant to work for people everywhere including homes and places of work.

One challenge that’s being faced by most of the companies that provide security and defense services is the fact that technology is evolving and people are not (The Aspen Institute, 2012). This makes it difficult to implement all the solutions that the companies may have to help people. A recommendation to the current services being offered by companies is that they should focus more on the effectiveness of their services in the land domain, maritime or air to make use of them safer.
