Episodic life experiences I went through right from birth have always been the reason I could go miles to search for solutions regarding anything that seems a bother in my life. My mother narrated to me how I barely survived having been born prematurely 23 weeks before time and weighing only 1.2 lbs., with only 19 percent chances of survival. My cousin with whom I share the same fate also had slim chances to survive because he also happened to be born premature and underweight. I remember my onset years of life proved unpromising, the same case with my cousin who had to move from hospital to hospital to add a minute to his life. Today, I realize how this experience has helped shape my professional ambition. While I have always regarded marine engineering as my main professional ambition right from the start, experiences that ensued later have redirected me to embrace life science, making STEM knowledge more than a requirement.
My most interesting area in STEM revolves around Science, and in particular life sciences. Life sciences align with my personal and professional growth. Studying biology brings me closer to the world of nature an instinct. I will be concerned to know how life begins and ends.It will be intriguing for me to know what causes premature deaths and ways in, which such deaths can be avoided. I am also curious to know the symptoms and signs associated with every disease that poses a threat to human health.

The next thing I would like to establish is how critical processes such as metabolism, respiration, and reproduction are interlinked, in order to determine causality relations between disease factors and population health. If I take part in the summer STEM program, I will choose a lifestyle that will promote my healthy living and that of the people around me. In a bid to make this important discovery, I will rarely miss attending such crucial topics as genetics and human anatomy. I will read massive theories that will suggest different ways to end this calamity and, possibly, how survival chances of these unfortunate babies will increase. I will embrace important insights that Life sciences offer into various disease components in order to develop innovative medical devices and novel therapeutics, with a direct link to improve human health.
I have always been very interested in and enjoyed math and science classes. In my elementary class, I learned math to calculate sums and arrive at correct answers. At first, I could wonder why my math teacher could get so interested in playing with numbers, wasting precious time instead of getting something constructive done. But, algebra proved overwhelming and pretty difficult to solve. I was thrilled with the idea of mixing numbers with alphabets, and biological science is one area full of calculations. My passion for practical lessons and experiments has made Science area of admiration. I would be fascinated to handle specimens and learn the dichotomy of living organisms. I hope, by learning the essentials of the STEM in class would prepare me adequately to face real-life situations and address critical issues associated with nutrition, growth reproduction, environmental protection and human health. Being trained in a STEM field presents a good opportunity for to provide answers to multiple issues in the everyday world.
I will count myself fortunate to swing with the wave of scientific and technological innovations in the era of globalization and highly knowledge-based economy. My interest in innovations is linked to the design of life support machines to help reduce premature deaths, especially during childbirth. I will use STEM knowledge to design audial-visual aids to educate people on health practices and the need to create an eco-friendly environment. In this sense, the Summer STEM program will inform my creative thinking, improve my problem-solving ability, and enhance my innovativeness. My participation in the STEM education would advance my medical research skills and assist me in identifying sophisticated medical equipment to perform complex diagnosis and therapeutic tasks.
Pursuing a STEM major will grant me a wide variety of future opportunities after graduation. As a Life Scientist; I will be motivated to find solutions and cure to different categories of diseases. I believe being actively involved in the STEM program will help pave the way for my future success. Participating in STEM would allow me to study more about biological sciences in college to further align my interests with my dream career. The quantitative training embedded in STEM classes would not only help me exploit the skills and knowledge gained in high school, but also would assist in tackling research issues in a way I find most fascinating.
In conclusion, like the classroom where learning math and science is of utmost importance in making calculations and learning concepts, I would employ math and science find to answers to life experiences and find solutions to real situations. STEM education prepares me for my career as a Life Scientist, thus playing an important role in my personal and professional growth. I rely on technology to innovate ways to improve the quality of life for many lives. I also believe pursuing a STEM major means more than a graduate application; grants me substantial future opportunities. Indeed, the Summer STEM Program is more that than a means to make my ends meet.
