The most familiar and popularly used technology in the healthcare system is the Electronic Health Record System. The electronic health record is used keep track the pieces of information that are used in the healthcare system (“10 Biggest Technological Advancements for Healthcare in the Last Decade”, 2014). Most of the information used in the hospital beginning from the finance record, the patients’ history and even the ordering of the materials that are used in the hospital are kept in the electronic health record system. The important factor about the health record is the fact that the pieces of information are kept in the clouds even if there is any form of a catastrophic incident that can occur in the healthcare premises such as fire outbreak, then the information remained safe and secured (Gilpin, 2014).
The impact of the electronic health record system is that the accuracy of the information in the health record is maintained with the dates when the records were stored (Garber & Gilbert, 2012). This, therefore, makes it easy to look up any information that is required by the staff members of the healthcare (Poissant, 2005). Accessing the patient’s record also becomes easier and faster since the data is well organized. When using the EHR, the sharing of the electronic health information with the patients or any other physicians becomes very secure (White, 2014). And also the privacy and security of the patients’ health information are maintained since there are a specific group of people who are recommended to use the system.
