Termination is a normal aspect of human life as it entails the dissolution of something. It often applies to various areas related to employment, relationships, and education. In my case, termination may involve getting fired from my current job position. Dismissal from work is not only a humiliating but also a terrifying experience. Irrespective of the reason for termination, people who get fired from their jobs often experience feelings of failure (Knight, 2017). Apart from these emotions, dismissal brings about the fear of failing to secure other employment in the future.
While termination does not necessarily imply future career problems, there are a few ways it can affect professional life adversely. For instance, people who lose their jobs due to poor performance decrease their prospects of securing future employment. During recruitment, employers often run background checks on candidates (Knight, 2017). When some companies come across the term terminated, they may associate it with being fired for reasons related to poor performance. Such employers usually deny candidates the opportunity of getting to work with them. Outsourcing, smaller budgets, and other causes not associated with poor performance can also lead to the termination of employment.
Although people usually associate termination with negative aspects such as loss of income and future employment prospects, getting fired is an eye-opening education.

Firing, dismissal, and discharge are cruel truth. However, people should not allow termination to destroy their confidence in getting another job (Knight, 2017). As opposed to considering termination as justifiable, people should view it as a learning experience. For example, when fired for poor performance or absenteeism, one should appreciate the guidance provided by the employer and learn from the experience.
