The Forgotten Women: Chien-Shiung Wu
Historical records reveal the achievements of numerous women that are not remembered. Female scientists, for example, have made significant contributions to world inventions but are not as recognized as their male counterparts (Tsjeng 19). All the same, they have played a significant role including being the figures behind some of the fascinating inventions. Chien-Shiung Wu is rarely remembered in any forum yet she is a great scientist who played a central role in the development of the atomic bomb.
Wu was inspired by the achievements of Marie Curie, a celebrated chemist, to become a leading physicist in the top-secret Manhattan Project (“The Manhattan Project” 18). The young aspiring scientist was enrolled for studies at Nanjing’s National Central Univsresity, but she changed to the University of Michigan which offered a course in physics, which was her passion. Later still, she enrolled at the University of California where she excelled in experimentation.
Wu was the only woman to work in the senior researcher’s position in Columbia University’s war department (Tsjeng 11). Significantly, she played a central role in the invention of the Atomic bomb that was used on the Nagasaki and Hiroshima attack resulting in the end of the Second World War. Her achievement in science makes her one of the greatest women scientists in the world.
The achievement of Chien-Shiung Wu as a physicist is perhaps one of the most significant for women public figures in history.

Wait! The Forgoten Women revision paper is just an example!

However, her story is not much spoken although it is related to the popular Second World War event. Her narrative exemplifies the tendency to forget women who have played a significant role in history. Nevertheless, she is deservedly one of the most prominent figures among the forgotten women.
