Spread of Buddhism
Buddhism has been ignited by the first sermon popularly referred to as the turning of the wheel in the Indian continent. The spread of Buddhists is a unique phenomenon that is gaining popularity rapidly. The Buddhists traditions are categorized into three; the n0orthern, southern and the Tibetan traditions. The spread has kicked off to Sri Lankan in northern India and across the region. It is an exciting moment as Buddhism is among the traditions that have long been thought to be extinct especially in the wake of communism in places where the influence is strongly established (Yü, 14).
The positive response to the spread of Buddhism can be attributed to its simplicity and the promise of deliverance form ritualistic dogmas by way of salvation. The influence has led to the establishment of Sangha which is a group of monks and nuns bestowed with the task of spreading Buddhism across the continent and far. The monks are to wear robes, shave their heads and will be walking barefooted across the Indian states. Their lives will be fully dedicated to the religion, meditating, teaching and conducting ritual ceremonies about their faith. Buddha’s death has made the council of the Buddhists codify his teachings s most of them are in oral form (Epstein, 23).
The spread is becoming significant, and milestone achievement is when the Mauryan emperor converts to become a Buddhist. The originally considered sect is elevated to become a religion recognized by the state just like any other religions; Christianity and Islam.

This achievement has given the monks and nuns a chance to go beyond Indian borders are spread the word. The Turkish invasions in the 11th century have thwarted the spread of Buddhism through empowering Hinduism who have since taken over the Buddhism territories.
