Types of Crises/Disasters
The crisis presents the occurrence of a calamity that affects the execution of human services. For this reason, various intervention strategies are used to prevent the occurrence of a crisis. Various types of crises considered in this analysis include natural disasters, school shootings, terrorism, and an instance of military trauma. There are various similarities and differences of these crises. One similarity is a case of the predisposition of the victim to danger. One difference can be seen where a natural disaster is based on nature unlike with the case of military trauma or school shootings. Other segments have covered the crisis responding roles presented by both the national and international organizations like the American Red Cross, National Guard, FEMA, among others. These and other considerations are exemplified in this coursework.
Types of Crises
There are various types of crises. These includes posttraumatic stress disorder, the crisis of lethality, sexual assault, partner violence, family crisis, personal loss (bereavement), and crises in schools. Other types of crises covered in this context include natural disasters, workplace/school shooting, military trauma, and terrorism. A natural disaster involves the cause of crisis due to hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, among other cases which cause a devastating effect on an area of land. It causes damage to people, infrastructure, businesses, and homes.

In other words, natural disasters are associated with catastrophic actions which cause a huge calamity on the surface of the earth.
Workplace/school shooting is a form of crisis associated with gun violence. It arises when there is a case of intentional violence perpetrated through shooting. An example is an indiscriminate form of shootings with the use of weapons. Such an action of shooting may take place within workplaces or school zones. It causes a significant distress in the form of harm to either students or workers. The occurrence of this form of shooting causes disruption which inhibits the achievement of goals of an organization. Similarly, there are instances where irreparable damage is caused to the institution.
Terrorism is a form of crises presented by a criminal activity perpetrated unjustifiably on innocent people. It is a form of threat that affects people and states from all walks of life, irrespective of their location. In other words, terrorism is a reference to an indiscriminate use of violence intentionally. It is usually undertaken behind the motive of achieving religious, political, or even ideological aims (Richard & Burl, 2016). Through terrorism, there is the occurrence of conflict which causes terror among people. Violent groups and terrorists are the ones involved in conducting these inhumane treatments on people.
Military trauma is a form of crises associated with trauma-related stress on military officers. It is usually associated with activities of deployment where various service men experience disorders. These disorders may emanate from substance use or mental affliction. Military trauma can also result from increased distress in families of military officers.
Similarities
There exist some comparisons and dissimilarities occurring among the four types of crises mentioned above. In this segment, there is the concentration of their similarities. These includes the fact that all crises cause unwanted incidences with no warning. There is a case of people affected by these crises becoming desperate in their quest for hope. Similarly, all individuals who are affected by the crisis are supposed to address the issue brought about by the disaster (Richard & Burl, 2016). There is an element of damage presented by these crises. All crises lead to complexity of underlying issues. The presence of these complexities presents a case of a threat to objectives of strategic nature to an organization. Crisis situations occur with a sense of urgency. All people are predisposed to danger. In extreme cases, there is the cause of violence leading to death.
Differences
Under differences, there is so much that can be talked about. When it comes to the comparison of military training and school shooting, a natural disaster can be equated to a crisis caused by nature. There has been a case of commercialization of school shooting in comparison to natural disasters, like in the case involving the creation of video games. Similarly, commercialization of such school shootings exists unlike in the case of military trauma and terrorism. Another difference is a case of increased politicization of terrorism compared to military training, natural disasters, or school shootings. Natural disasters present a case for opportunities and also a crisis.
Crisis Responding Roles of Both National and International Organizations
There are various organizations involved in responding to the issue of crisis and their occurrence. An example is a role of “The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.” The work of this body is to help individuals in the healing process (Spillan, Parnell III & John, 2010). Once this mechanism is achieved, there is an assurance that psychological wounds existing in a person are rebuild, especially after a long suffering from a critical disaster.
The “European Network of Traumatic Stress” is another body that is tasked with the mechanism of intervening in the occurrence of a crisis. Its work involves the development of evidence-based response programs that provide a form of assistance to those regions suffering from a case of insufficient psychological resources.
Other international organizations that respond to the issue of the crisis include Mennonite Disaster Service, International Relief and Development, the Church of Christ, National Guard, FEMA, American Red Cross, and the US Army. The involvement of these organizations is the provision of a response team to different cases of crisis across the globe (Spillan, Parnell III & John, 2010). They do this by helping affected countries in becoming stable after facing a disaster. An example is the occurrence of disasters like wars and floods.
The considerations of similarities present a situation where some conditions are considered to have an increased amount of risk compared to others. An example is in the relativity of natural disasters which can be equated to a case of military trauma and a school shooting. However, the case of natural disaster and terrorism presents a situation where the risk hazard is more, especially where it leads to anxiety disorder or ‘Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.’ The reason is that terrorism is considered as a social network through the formation of young people who are alienated enough to a point where they are transformed into becoming dispossessed with any sense of humanity.
It can be seen that the occurrence of crisis is a dangerous trend that should be prevented through the utilization of crisis intervention strategies. These disasters include the occurrence of terrorism, school/workplace shootings, military trauma, and natural disasters. There exist some similarities and differences in the manner in which these disasters are felt, and this section has been handled fully in the body of this essay. Other key sections have tackled the crisis responding roles which includes the National Guard, the American Red Cross, FEMA and many others.
