European Union and United Nations
United Nations is a global organisation that was created in 1945. It was the second multipurpose international organisation formed in the 20th century that was global in terms of membership and scope. The first one was the League of Nations which was established in 1919.UN has its headquarters in New York and several regional offices in Nairobi, Geneva, and Vienna. The key roles that the organisation plays include upholding universal peace and security, sustaining positive relations among countries, and endorsing worldwide cooperation (Adriaenssens 53). UN sources its power from the five nations in permanent membership commonly known as the Axis powers, which include the United States, China, Britain, France, and Russia. One of the problems that the UN has helped solve is conflict. Over the years, the UN has actively been involved in conflict resolution activities by restoring peace among warring states. This is usually done in accordance with its goal of maintaining global peace and security. As such, the UN keeps the peace by strengthening respect for human rights and restoring country’s ability to maintain law among other efforts. Despite the historic achievements that the UN has made earlier, the organisation is in danger of being overshadowed by failure, criticism, and stagnation. Therefore, if the leadership does not initiate efforts to restore the organization it might collapse in the future.
The European Union is an international agency comprised of twenty-eight European countries.

Wait! United Nations paper is just an example!

Initially, the organisation was only confined to Western Europe but later expanded to Eastern and Central Europe. The EU was created in 1993 after the enforcement of the Maastricht treaty (Adriaenssens 53). The primary purpose of the organisation is enhancing economic and political integration. It also aims at strengthening peace among member countries. The EU sources power from its economic statecraft whereby the size and success of the EU internal market are usually used as a resource to leverage external relations. The European Union is currently in an existential crisis, and something needs to be done. The restoration of the European Union entirely depends on the political will of the powerful member states who play a critical role in sustaining the EU’s economic power.
Some of the challenges that EU is facing include high refugee influx, which can be solved by identifying those who are in dire need of international protection and providing safe returns to refugees whose claims for asylum are rejected. The EU may also solve the problem not only by addressing the migration influx as a problem but also as an opportunity. The EU can take advantage of the skills and entrepreneurial expertise that the refugees come along with which may help address the labour market gaps in EU member states. Another challenge is lack of solidarity within the EU; this problem can be resolved by integrating efforts to establish a reasonable degree of consensus and political energy to enable strong leadership. More so, the EU needs to restore its confidence and strength.
