Why Is Immigration Bad:
Some immigrants “find it to their interest to be good citizens and neither their religion nor political opinion can injure us if we have good laws, well executed” (Lemay 126). Despite the many challenges faced by immigrants in a country, the question of how they influence the area they migrate to lingers in peoples mind and while some have the notion that they always have good effect in the countries, many others continue with the outcry that they act as competitors in the ever-limited resources the country is endowed with. Do the immigrants feel they are a threat? Critically looking, they serve as sources of cheap labour and employers have an inclination to employ them as this will lower their production cost. Also, they bring with them a new culture that allows the residences to diversify and learn new things. However, despite these advantages, immigration bring along many challenges, and the paper is intended to discuss those challenges in depth.
There are many motives why individuals choose to leave their homes and relocate to new places. Migrants may move in a new country to seek political freedom, for economic reasons, to escape natural catastrophe or ethnic conflicts (Barkan 5).
Being a migrant in a new country is challenging because one has to adapt to new changes; cultural beliefs and traditions, laws and languages (ViewCaps 8). Most people view immigrants negatively, and I think it because that I am immigrant to Canada.

The first time I settled in Canada, most people around me never accepted me immediately, and I was seen as an outcast. I thought migrating to Canada was a good idea until I realized that communicating with others was a challenge. Also, the cost of living in Canada is a bit expensive since one has to pay proper tax, house insurance, electricity, and other bills.
The immigration subject is a controversial topic in many nations and what makes me anxious is the toxic effects of immigration on a state and world economy (Swain 69). Immigration has both pros and cons when viewed from a mathematical perspective to both the sending and receiving countries. Immigration has a negative impact on the receiving state because not all the immigrants have morals. Some are criminals, drug traffickers, and terrorists while others are pushed to engage in criminal activities when they lack a means of survival in the new nation (Coulter 4).
To the sending country, immigration affects its economy. For instance, when skilled immigrants move to a new country, the labour supply of their former state decreases, the other workers’ salaries increase while the cost of the other factors of production increases (Boeri 15). The skilled immigrants cause a change in the wage structure and the return to the capital for the former state. These changes create a rise in the production of goods and services which use the labour provided by the immigrants. The capital stock with time, it pushes the labour demand upwards, and the salaries rise back to their original level.
Immigration has a positive effect on the economy of the receiving country but not its citizens. This is because citizens and immigrants have to share the natural resources in the country. (Goldin et al. 164). Immigration alters the labour market, drains citizens and also drains the economy of a country (Ojo 30).
Most of the Immigrants provide low-cost labour in the receiving countries because many employers take advantage of them. When immigrants offer cheap labour, companies are given an opportunity to reduce the prices of consumer goods which benefits citizens of the receiving country (Kleyn 214). Immigrants in the labour force pay taxes into Medicare and Social Security. This increases the number of people supporting the nation’s economy. The more the immigrants into the labour force, the better the age dependency ratio.
The world’s economy is improved when the immigrants are prevented from entering the wealthy countries. Research shows that when immigrants are prevented from settling in the wealthy states, an approximately $150 trillion is saved. World Bank states that, if immigration workforce in the developed countries is increasing with a 3% margin, then the world’s economy will gain approximately $356 billion. Some financial analysts foresee that if state borders were exposed and employees were permitted to settle where they desired, it would yield benefits as high as $39 trillion for the world economy above 25 years.
In conclusion, immigration has both positive and negative effects on the receiving country because the immigrants encourage equality. On the other hand, immigrants weaken the national security, stains the cultural roots of a nation and reduce the natural resources meant for the citizens. To the sending country, immigration affects its economy. For instance, when skilled immigrants move to a new country, their former state decreases in its labour supply, the other workers’ salaries increase while the prices of the other factors of production increases.
