The ASM position statement is based on exercise and its influence on diabetes type 2. Diabetes is a chronic condition that affects many people in the society. It is a condition controlled through management of blood sugar levels. However, it is up until recently when there was conducted adequate research on how physical activity causes better management on control of glucose and also helps in delaying the condition. According to Karla et al. (2015), diabetes is a very costly disorder despite being a factor of a person’s lifestyle. It is also a condition that can easily be prevented through a combination of exercise and diet and reflect on the adoption of a proper lifestyle. Maintaining a proper lifestyle involves having a healthy weight which involves regular exercises and checking the food one consumes. The lifestyle diabetes prevention program is therefore a form of strategic intervention aim at creating awareness of the health risk factors associated with diabetes type 2 and the prevention measures that can be adopted to stay healthy. The lifestyle diabetes prevention program is therefore a collaborative approach involving health care systems, communities and practitioners associated with working together to provide support, knowledge and to offer the society with opportunities to maintain healthy lifestyles that are free of diabetes (Galaviz, Narayan, Lobelo, & Weber, 2015, p.

According to the article, we live in an era where health risk factors are mainly caused by problems associated with lifestyle. Diabetes type 2 has become a very deadly disease that affects more than three hundred million people in the world. These are also people with a very high risk of other ailments involving cardiometabolic problems.
