Coca-Cola is a multinational company that deals in the production of soft drinks and water across the globe. It was established in the 19th century in the United States of America (Coombs and Holladay, 2012).
The Coca-Cola Company gives back to the society through charitable activities which include protecting the environment by treating and recycling wastewaters, educational programs for needy students, protecting the welfare of employees and that of its surrounding community.
Coca-Cola aims at protecting the environment through protecting watersheds, sanitation access, expanding the community drinking water, efficient in using water and introducing programs to educate the community on how to protect and preserve water sources and the environment. Further, the company educates and empowers its employees as part of corporate social responsibility (Harris, 2016). It gives its employees a chance to extend their education, and realize their full potential by supporting them financially. It also awards scholarships to bright students who are going through financial difficulties.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, the company creates a good working environment for its employees. Employees are engaged in the decision-making process through idea sharing where they can give suggestions on how to better performance of the company. The company has flexible working hours for its employees to ensure a conducive working environment (Coca Cola, 2017).

Coca-Cola gives its employees discounts for gym memberships, free coca-cola drinks and fruits and healthy foods. In addition, the company also aims at protecting peoples’ health, for example through its commitment to fight obesity. It fights obesity through displaying information about calorie on its product, funding of physical activity programs and minimizing the number of calories in their products (Coca Cola, 2017). Further, it protects the welfare of the community by providing high-quality products, providing employment in the immediate community, balancing its water usage to save water and treating of wastewater before releasing it.
The corporate social responsibility activities carried out by Coca-Cola communicates a lot about the firm. These activities show appreciation to the surrounding community through giving them jobs. They also show that Coca-Cola minds its employees by creating a safe working environment, training of the workers, giving allowances, rewards and engaging the employees in decision making. The corporate social responsibilities also show the transparency of the company through disclosures to the company’s stakeholders, that is, the shareholders, employees, customers and the general community. The activities prove that it aims at assisting in places where the government has not been able to reach through initiatives such as free medication programs and scholarships to poor students.
The corporate social responsibility activities are beneficial to the company because they have helped portray a positive brand image. The positive brand image has brought about increased sales, hence more revenue to the company (Coca Cola, 2017). Customer loyalty has also increased since customers want to be associated with the brand. The positive image has attracted many qualified employees. Further, it enables the company to manage and retain its employees through training. With a good corporate image, the company can access more capital as it will attract more investors to buy its shares.
I would consider working for Coca-Cola Company because of its unique culture which will enable me to convert my passion into action. Coca-Cola has a diverse team which will assist me to learn from different people with different backgrounds. It has a good strategic journey with a vision that reflects its goals for its employees. In addition, the company has good core values that will help me as I carry out my duties. These core values include integrity, passion, and leadership. Finally, it gives rewards to its employees as an appreciation of the service provided.
