El Faro: A Reading Tour

Introduction.

It is a very interesting book structured in a prologue, an introduction, seven chapters and a final annex. In each chapter, the protagonist tells both both positive and negative things that are happening to him, giving the reader his point of view and a lesson or guide that serves both the protagonist and for the one who is reading. The author will try to deliver a message to the reader giving his opinion on such a basic and essential topic as communication. We will give us clues about making a good conference effective and succeed.

Everything points from the first moment that the author himself is the protagonist of the book. Many data from his biography are exactly the same as those of the protagonist. The reading begins with a character who is dedicated to giving conferences and, at a given time, at the end of a conference, he realizes that he does not reach the success he intends to achieve. The message he tries to convey does not reach the audience that attends the conference, the protagonist does not understand it and decides to look for the reason, since he had spent a lot of time preparing that conference.

The third message refers to the use of simple language, and as a teacher it will not be less. The teacher, as we have seen with theories like Vygotsky’s, will be a guide, a mediator, an counselor, in which the student supports. The characteristics that a teacher must have are related to the teacher-student relationship. As the reading is arguing, that both the exponent and the listener must complement each other, in a classroom it is the same.
