I believe that the only way a person can prove his strength and resilience in life is by losing themselves in the service of others. Education is supposed to be a platform to empower oneself and extend the good service for the community at large. Since my high school, I have embraced extracurricular activities since they present an opportunity for me to make friends, learn new stuff, and above all give back to the less fortunate in the community.
In high school, I was a member of the debating club and served as the club Treasurer for two years. One of my greatest achievements in the debating club was that I was a pioneer of the School’s newspaper. The newspaper served as an icon that promoted unity in a school that was culturally diverse. Students from different cultures could post their traditional dishes, activities, and distinctive cultural artifacts and moreover provide a session for debating on individual cultural biases and stereotypes; hence, improved intercultural relations. Furthermore, every Thursday, the debating club members would do the cleaning of the local town on a voluntary basis.
In college, I was an active member of the Multi-Culture Arts Club. Through my membership in the club, I have been able to develop excellent interpersonal communication skills that helped me to reduce intercultural conflicts. Also, through the Club’s weekly presentations, I was able to discover my passion for painting and arts. Henceforth, on the club’s monthly CSSR activities, I could volunteer at the local children homes to help the kids to learn in their creative art lessons.

Later, I learned to play guitar, piano, and drums. I find it very entertaining to visit adult centers or food bank delivery days to entertain the elderly and give them company in their most difficult times.
Finally, I am strong society member, and as such, I participate in the weekly community fundraising to raise money to support members of the society with chronic illnesses, the homeless people and also help street children to join rehabilitation facilities.
