Personal Statement
Throughout my educational life, I have always wanted to be in a management position. However, currently, I do not have the necessary skills to take up management positions. I choose the business management course as it will help me realise my career goals, and grow both professionally and personally. My career goal is to become a top business management professional who can handle several roles in senior management and help an organisation grow. The course will help me attain these goals as it will equip me with the skills to succeed in future roles. Moreover, the course will also help me build a professional network with my colleagues, and I can use these connections for growth.
My interest in the subject of business management is traced to my senior high school years where I had to decide which course I wanted to pursue. I realised that my significant strengths were in business and I had to choose a course revolving around this subject. Indeed, I already have background education on the subject; I can apply this in completing various tasks in the current course. Additionally, my previous education has also prepared me for what to expect in this course regarding content. The skills I have gained from previous education that will help me in this course include critical thinking, research, data analysis, and presentation. I will apply these skills in completing various aspects of the current course.
Although my work experience is minimal, I have worked in both voluntary and paid roles in the past.

First, after my senior high school, I volunteered in a local restaurant that caters for homeless people. In this role, I worked under a supervisor who also doubled up as my mentor; this enabled me to have experience working with someone who is already in a management position. Moreover, I recently got to work in a retail store where I was paid. The skills that I have gained from this experiences include interpersonal communication, diversity, and problem-solving. These skills will help me relate better with my future course mates and also fulfil the different tasks that I am assigned.
At the same time, I also interested in school activities such as sports and volunteering in the local community. For example, I was part of my high school hockey team which won the regional championships. Through these activities, I have got to build my leadership skills and also learnt how to work in teams successfully. I will use these qualities to ensure that I interact and collaborate with my classmates for coursework activities.
I have decided to study in the U.K due to the quality of education offered here. Once I complete the course, I am sure that my prospects in the competitive job markets. Moreover, the U.K also offers diversity as I will get to meet other students from different backgrounds. Additionally, there are also specific modules that will help in career development such as psychology, sociology, the law as well as finance. Furthermore, after completion of the course, the college offers students for real work experience in sectors such as manufacturing, finance, and marketing. One of the books I have read is Richard Branson’s “Losing my Virginity,” as it challenges one to get out of their comfort zone and explore opportunities in the world.
I am a good candidate as I bring into the course a wealth of experience in business management. Indeed, I possess the necessary skills to help me contribute objectively to coursework activities. After completing the course, I plan to seek opportunities in the business world to help me grow.
