Intelligence in simple words is the ability of an individual to acquire new knowledge and skills as well as apply them in real life. However, over the past century, this meaning has been changed by those individuals who believe that intelligence is just the measure of logical and analytical reasoning. In the modern world, having analytical and logical skills only is not sufficient to live in the ever-changing and competing world.
Yes, too much emphasis is placed on this SAT and ACTs as they define and shape the future of any person taking them. Judging the level of intelligence, a person has through these analytical tests often locks out some other individuals who are intelligent as one may simply get tension while sitting for the test and fail. People who fail this tests are made to believe that they are stupid and have a low IQ, however, this is not true as surviving in the modern world does not solely depend on what IQ a person scores at this tests rather it requires a person to be creative and flexible in order to adapt the fast coming changes.
The society has grown to come to base their view of intelligence on this basic pen and paper tests conducted. Those students who get higher scores are considered to be intelligent and this in return makes them get chosen by more selective schools compared to other students who failed the test. These standardized tests we are using to determine the intelligence of our students might prove to be useful in the school system, but this does not necessarily mean that the same will happen in the real lives of those students in future as success is not determined by how one scored on their SAT (Jaeger, 2010).

Wait! IQ Tests paper is just an example!
