Introduction
Technological advancement has taken a different lane within the previous two decades. This advancement in technology has fostered a profound effect on the growth of the internet. For instance, the rate at which internet is currently accessed with various computerized devices such as laptops, smartphones and I pads has massively inclined. With the high usage of mobile phones, about 29 % of users connect to the internet at any given time (Murphy & Roser, 2017, p. 2). It is inarguable that the internet has enhanced information sharing through various internet-supported platforms. Through platforms such as Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and other social network innovations, it has become to share information widely in a short time. Reportedly, even though internet advancement has conceived several substantial benefits, a lot of concerns have arisen.
Sharing of Information
It is inarguable that information sharing has been rendered fast and easy within the two recent decades. With the current improvement in informational technology, information sharing has become extremely interconnected. Today, the internet has created many avenues for sharing information. Sending files has been made easy and effective. For instance, there are many platforms which can be used to send audio, images and even videos. Electronic mails avenues such as Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail and others support the sending of files from one person to another.

Wait! IT standards and regulations paper is just an example!

Besides, social media platforms such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram make it possible to share information to both individual people and a large group of people at the same time (Murphy & Roser, 2017, p. 12). These platforms make use of the internet to move the files and ensure connection of people who are in different locations. On the same note, with the help of the internet, it has become possible to video call and visually communicates with another person who is at a different location. Platforms such as Skype, WhatsApp, IMO, Line and others have been designed in a manner that they support such activity.
Technological Innovations
Several technological innovations have gradually been invented to help improve information sharing. Engineers and IT experts from various fields have come up with different inventions which use the internet to support the interconnection of people using computerized devices. The electronic mail is one of the early technological innovation that was invented to support information sharing. The email application has been used for sending messages to people over a certain network. Just by knowing the recipient email address, the sender can attach a message or file and send it over the internet (Murphy & Roser, 2017, p. 4). Both small files and large files can be sent through the internet. To some extent, the Email system resembles the FTP in its operation. The innovation allows the sender to send the copy of the same mail to another person or group of people. Even though there is a limitation to the number of the recipient of an email, the message reaches them in a short time.
Peer to Peer (P2P) is another file sharing innovation that has aided in information sharing. This application makes use of the internet to send files of different formats such as video as well as music. Apparently, the innovation does not use the central server like other information sharing innovations. P2P programs have several informational sharing advantages such as instant messaging.
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is one of the initial information sharing innovation. This innovation makes use of the central computer which is commonly referred to as the FTP server. This central computer stores the files ready to share them (Mitchel, 2018, p. 1). FTP clients can then access the server and find the copies. Certainly, all current computers are built with an FTP client program. Additionally, Web browsers such internet explorer is included in computers to help FTPs run accordingly. This enables file sharing to different clients.
Microsoft Windows is a network operating system which is made up of features which enable it support information sharing. This operating system has various options such as file folders which can be used to store files and easily be moved to different people (Mitchel, 2018, p. 1). The movement of the information can be done either over a Local Area Network (LAN) or the internet. Security access can be put to prevent unauthorized people from accessing the message.
Benefits Associated with Internet Information Sharing
Internet information sharing has triggered various benefits. To start with, through the help of the internet, information sharing has become fast (Kreutz, 2009, p. 1). The invention of the social web and therefore the real-time web has contributed significantly to the speed of conveyed information using the net. This speed has made computerized devices to be used for marketing and advertising.
Internet information sharing enables the sharing of information to a large group of people at the same time. For instance, it is evident that unlike traditional information sharing avenues which only facilitated the sharing of information to few people, the internet supports sharing of information among many people. All platforms of the internet including Twitter, Facebook, and others support the sharing of information to many people at the same time.
Inarguably, the growth of internet information sharing platforms has led to the growth of other platforms. Due to the internet, the media industry has greatly benefited since most of its problems have been solved (Kreutz, 2009, p. 1). Today, people can watch the news or other television programs both offline and online. Television stations have opened YouTube channels where they upload their clips thereby giving their viewer options of keeping in touch with their programs.
Concerns Associated with Internet Information Sharing
With the growth of the internet, some issues have been identified and have been considered to cripple information sharing. For example, currently, there has been a high number of cyber attacks. This has been facilitated by the ease in sharing information among people and the availability of many information sharing avenues (Mitchel, 2018, p. 3). Due to this, there has been a proposal for censorship to be implemented to limit the kind of information being shared. This type of privacy concern is already functional in countries such as China.
Through the high probability of risks as well as the high rate of cybersecurity cases that have been reported, IT companies have been subjected to high tax rates. They are required to pay a lot of money for inspection and the emergency incase clients fall victim of the attacks. Also, the internet has limited capacity or rather ability. It can only support data of a certain size at any given size. This is a major concern to many companies especially those dealing with big data.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the invention of the internet spearheaded a significant step in informational technology. Through the help of the internet, it has become easy to share information. Platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and others have been used for information sharing. Notably, the speed, intensity as well as the efficiency of the internet are some of the advantages which have enabled the internet to be incorporated into all aspects of life. However, in the current world, cyber attacks and other internet frauds have become many a factor that has raised security concerns in the use of the internet.
