Marie Curie Life perspective

My birth name is Maria Salomea Skłodowska, I was born in Warsaw, Poland on November 7, 1867. I nationalized in France where I also changed Marie’s name, here I met my husband Pierre Curie and I had two children Irène and ève Denise.

Today I am recognized as one of the most important scientists, unlike at the time I lived, since women did not have an important role in society.

My recognition is due to my studies in the field of radioactivity in addition to introducing techniques for isootopos isolation. I am also recognized by the discovery of two elements; Radio and Polonium.

I died in Passy, France on July 4, 1934 because I suffered from aplastic anemia, and I was buried with honors in France in 1995.My parents were Władysław Skłodowski and Bronisława Skłodowska, the two were teachers and always instilled in me and my older brothers the importance of knowledge. My brothers were Zofia, Józef, Bronisława and Helena. During my childhood my family had economic problems.

My father was a professor of Physics and Mathematics, and I began to get interested in these sciences since my father had to bring home part of the devices and instruments in his laboratory, because the Russian authorities prohibited to teach laboratory classes in the Polish schools.

When I was ten years old, my mother died of tuberculosis and later my sister Zofia died for tifus. All these events made Marie rethink her Christian faith, and she became agnostic.

Wait! Marie Curie Life Perspective paper is just an example!

The Royal Academy of Sciences of Sweden awarded me with the Nobel Prize in Physics, I also won it with my husband. I was the first woman to get this award, the Royal Academy, I did not want to reward for the fact of being a woman, they just wanted to give it to my husband, but Pierre did not want to pick it up if I did not pick it up either.

We could not go to pick up this award for Sweden because we are very busy in the laboratory and Pierre was getting harder. After winning the award, we received 15.000 dollars, so we could hire a laboratory assistant. The University of Paris gave us a laboratory in the Chair of Physics, but it was not ready until 1906.

On May 13, 1906, the Department of Physics of the University of Paris offered me a position in the laboratory created by my husband, hoping to create a world category laboratory as a tribute to my husband. I was the first woman to occupy the position of professor at that university and the first director of a laboratory of that institution.Between 1906 and 1934, the University admitted 45 women without taking into account the previous gender restrictions in their hiring.

In 1911, the Academy of Sciences of France, discussed each other to see if he could be part of that academy since Désiré Gernez died, but I was not chosen by a vote, at that time I was already a member of the Academy of Sciences of Sweden , Czech Republic and Poland. In an article by Le Temps they defended my candidacy. During the academy’s elections, the right -wing press spoke very badly about me only because of being a woman, foreign and agnostic.

On the other hand, the recognition of my work grew and the Swedish Academy awarded me the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. This award was "in recognition for my services in the advancement of chemistry, for the discovery of radio and polonium elements, the isolation of the radio and the study of nature and compounds of this element".
