Describe the project manager’s role in monitoring tasks.
Project managers usually play very important roles in controlling and monitoring tasks by overseeing all the tasks and metrics required to ensure that all components of a project are within scope on the budget, and on time to enable the project to proceed with minimum risks. The processes of monitoring involve making comparisons between the planned performance and the actual performance of the project and taking the necessary rectification steps to steer the project towards the desired directions to meet the objectives and timelines of the project. The process of controlling and monitoring is performed continuously throughout the lives of projects.
Describe the project manager’s role in directing resources.
Project managers usually carry a responsibility in directing all the resources available at a project. He or she should identify all the resources needed to implement a project successfully (Majeed, 2016). It is usually the role of a project manager to ensure that the resources are utilized efficiently, with the aim of finishing the project within the budget and on time. The direction and planning of human resources are also the responsibilities of the project manager who should ensure that the project has the right personnel with the right skills, a right time to accomplish the jobs that need to be done efficiently. Project managers should particularly be very careful when managing financial resources as they are the main enabling factors in a project.

Project managers also have the responsibility of managing change requests. Once a project commences, change request becomes an inevitable part of the project. The responsibility of a project manager in the management process of a project change is significant for various perspectives. First, he or she should ensure that when the stakeholders and team members in a project go through the change management process when making change orders. No stakeholders should be allowed to make changes to assignments of a team without following due process, as this can lead to scope creep which can cause problems to the project. Project managers should also encourage change request to help with the creation of new ideas and maintain healthy relationships with the stakeholders in the project (Billows, 2015).
Describe the project manager’s role in preparing for project closure.
All projects are temporary undertaking and must, therefore, come to an end in the long run. It is the role of the project manager to make the necessary comprehensive preparations for project closure. This involves ensuring that all the work supposed to be done as part of the project execution had been done. The project must also get the approval of its sponsor an customer for the completed work before the project manager initiates the project closure process. The project manager is also required to ensure that all the work on the contract has been finished and that all parties have honored their contractual obligations towards each other (Aziz, 2015).
