Abstract
Dawn FM is planning the developing of an original podcast that will be aired and available for downloading for the next two months. The topic for discussion will be to convince the parents to consider public and private schools rather than homeschooling. The targeted audience will be all the parents or the parents bearing in mind the choice of homeschooling. The rate of students being homeschooled is on the rise in the US. Similarly, Houston has not been left out in that trend, and hence there is a need to convince the parents to consider the schooling option rather than the homeschooling. The podcast is likely to make a special impact on Houston community. The length will be 30 minutes, and the input of professionals such as educationists, psychologists, and behaviorists will also be incorporated for us to give the audience an enriched content. The content will be reviewed before being aired to ensure that it fits the quality needed.

Subject: Recommendation on Reducing Homeschooling in Houston
Homeschooling is on the rise in the US. The U.S. Department of Education indicated that there were estimated 1.8 million students who were homeschooling in the US by the end of 2012. There was a significant increase in the number of students being homeschooled since in 1999 the number was estimated to be 850,000.

These statistics are quite alarming given the level of resources that the federal government has been spending on the enhancement of the public schools. There is also a rise in the private schools all over the US. Therefore, there is a need to convince the residents of Houston to adopt either the public schools or the private schools that are in the area rather than considering homeschooling (Murphy, 2014).
Podcast length and schedule
The podcast that I will be making will be 30 minutes long, and it will be aired on a weekly basis for the next one month. My show will be aired in the evenings when the people are settled at home after work. My goal is to enlighten the public on some belief that homeschooling is the finest way of educating the children. I will ensure that all that will be included in my show will be supported with facts as well as the input of various educationists whom I will be inviting and consulting from time to time to support my ideas.
Major cause of the shift to homeschooling
One of the major causes of homeschooling is that school is believed to bring about social suicide. Most of the teachers usually tell the pupils that “they are not there to socialize” which is wrong. Humans are social beings, and they should be allowed to socialize (Murphy, 2014).
The second reason as to why parents opt for home schooling is the issue of bullying. Schools usually make the children vulnerable to bullying since children are taken to school when they are immature, taken prematurely from their parents, and schools usually have little supervision hence making them “bully-making machine.”
Finally, the other reason for homeschooling the children is to ensure that they have received the best quality education. Most of the parents usually believe that the quality of education in public schools has continued to decline. Some of the public schools are overcrowded and end up straining the available resources. Statistics have indicated that one book is available for every 300 children available in areas that are low-school. Further, it is revealed that 60 percent of the children entering Kindergarten in Houston lack requisite reading skills with 50 percent of the students starting community colleges dropping out before graduating (Murphy, 2014).
Recommendations
I believe we can reduce the cases of homeschooling by empowering the public schools and private schools in the region. Enhancing the integrity of the available institutions, equipping them with right resources, and curbing bullying is one of the measures that should be undertaken to strengthen the confidence of the parents regarding the nature of schools. The shows would also convince the parents, based on available facts on how the curriculum has changed and why they should embrace taking the children to school rather than homeschooling.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I believe that the podcast will enlighten many people in the community on the benefits of taking children to school rather homeschooling. The podcast will be part of the change the people have been hoping for in a long time. By the end of the shows, I believe that many parents will be fully convinced by the reason as to why children in Houston should be taken to school that will change their lives.
