Social networks and their influence on children

Social networks are attractive platforms that allow people to create profiles to add their own or improper information and at that point exchange it with other Internet users. These services are sources of communication that allows us to cultivate. Networks are a great tool for globalization and has left their mark on all the people who use them. Its community is made up of users of any age, however, the young population is the most abundant according to social media statistics.

Social networks influence society, however, it has negative repercussions on children, excess permanence on these platforms can cause psychological damage, associal trends and cyber -harassment.

Social networks currently have a significant role for youth. The use of these services is daily and requires having a good handling, because if you do not have they can fall into the traps that handle them. When registering an account on these platforms they establish terms and conditions, among these is that the minimum age is 13 years. A 13 -year -old is suitable for an almost uncensored world? At that age, mental maturity has not finished developing therefore will not give optimal management and can cause damage to the people’s environment. Navigating on the Internet is the activity that occupies more time adolescents in their free time. In a year they spend more hours with the screens than in the company of their teacher in class, family or friends (Morduchowicz, 2015).

Among the specific Internet applications, the possibility of addiction focuses on which they present communicative and synchronous properties such as chats and online role -playing games, which allow hyper personal communication, identities game, projections andDissociation without real -life consequences. (Carbonell et al, 2010)

Taking into account the above, the excess of remains of children on social networks affects the environment because the little ones are very likely to fall into fantasies and more on a platform that does not show everything real. There are cases of cyber harassment, bullying among others, according to (Child Mind Institute, 2019).

These platforms such as Facebook and Instagram are almost daily use, according to Facebook statistics it has 2.072 million user and Instagram 800 million (Brandwatch, 2019). It is an exorbitant amount of people registered and thousands can be connected at the same time. These services are a means of communication, fun, socialization, business source and many other things that are apparently positive;But if all this is reduced to ages of 10 to 14 years, what can they do with all this?

Children in this age range are more immature therefore require helping help and good behavior. Those under 15 should not have access to social networks since their level of maturity before society is little and can take bad roads.

If the management of social networks affects adolescents as it will not cause more damage to children. Networks can create an addiction, thus forming psychological damage, for example, alteration of sleep hours, loss of shame, among others. A need to be connected is created, the mobile becomes another limb because if their emotions do not have (Child Mind Institute, 2019). Children should not be ‘glued to the Internet’, in turn they can consume free time in sports, dance classes, languages among others. Do not waste it on social networks because they would lose things to just look at them through a screen.

These have positive points: they are communication tools, information sources (not always accurate), ‘cure’ for loneliness, means to share, relate etc. Children should not depend on this, after a certain age they require some tools, however, for children are parents, other relatives and teachers who can support that role.

In this way, children who are between 10 to 14 should not be exposed to consuming platform information that are discovered to any type of affectation. When sailing on the networks, you can receive intimidation, expose and receive cyber graphs or be a victim of pedophilia.

There is a case reported to the BBC of a girl who suffered a child cyberbullying by her partner;This can occur for small reasons, only the person who does it knows. Every year the number of people in the world increases victims of harassment on the Internet and the figure is especially high among children and adolescents (more than half say they suffered) (BBC, 2016).

Do not undress before networks, children should not be exposed to hazards that are controllable. These services have a strong impact before this company, they should have more filters so that children under 14 cannot register before a world that can damage them. Technology is increasing. No one is exempt from something happens but there are things that can be prevented. If we do not handle social networks that will prevent them from controlling us totally in 20 years?
