Stress evaluation in nursing personnel

Stress is one of the most common health problems, causing a condition in at least 35% of the world’s population, and in addition to this it is an estimate of 50% and 60% of labor defections (Peréz, cited by Cadavid,Rojas & Palacio, 2017). In the area of health, nursing assistant staff compared to other groups of workers within an institution, are the most prone group to suffer from work stress.

The importance of studying stress in the health field of health, is that who seems according to Mecca, Carabelli and Gaitán: presents “high rates of labor absenteeism, increase in morbidity, increased drug addiction and even an increase in the suicide index”(p. 10) Due to factors such as constant contact with patients and time load, which also originate effects on the nurse-patient link, which can considerably impact nursing assistants both personally and the patient in their treatment andHospital experience: becoming a relationship that affects both parties negatively.

It is important to highlight that the purpose of the nursing professional is to provide quality care and that this is the greatest expression of communication between humans, because it requires the significant figure of someone who provides care and a person subject to care. This implies using all the senses through an empathy development and that is evident in an interpersonal relationship. Which evidences the importance of the general welfare of staff all the time while they are in their working hours.

This project is then aimed at: the application of an instrument, analysis, identification and generation of a proposal that allows regulating the characteristics identified in the Nowack Stress profile, presented in the nursing health personnel of the La Magdalena Clinical Unit located locatedin Barrancabermeja, Santander, and therefore generate the well -being of both healthcare and patients treated by them.

This study will be carried out with a sample of 150 people from the health sector, which will allow a more detailed analysis of the causes and factors that trigger work stress. Having the results of the field of study, the design of a proposal that regulates through the data obtained within the institution, the personal characteristics that contribute to the stress will proceed; Taking into account its schedule plan, personnel changes, personnel capacity and other factors that affect the proper functioning of this, in order to the subsequent active implementation of this project by the institution’s directives.

In addition, the approach to the study personnel will also allow also to evaluate whether any percentage of this specific study group: it needs permanent or semi -permanent monitoring in a personalized way by the psychology area to guarantee their well -being, the optimal development of its activity labor and therefore better general results of the institution within the institution.
