The internet is a form of new technology that has prevailed in connecting the entire global through the worldwide network connection (Rouse, 1). The invention of the radio, the telegraph, and the telephone paved the way to this unprecedented integrity of capabilities. The internet works as an immediate global broadcasting system that offers a strategic way of disseminating data. Additionally, it provides a path for interaction between various individuals that is facilitated by the computer ignoring the different in geographical distance. The internet can, therefore, be simply defined as a global network of interconnected computers in which users are capable of connecting from one computer and get data from a different computer or computers as long as they have needed permission (Rouse, 1).
Consequently, the users can send and receive the message over a wide geographical coverage and to any part of the globe where internet coverage is present. The internet seems to be leading and the most successful benefits of investing and committing to research and development of information infrastructure. Therefore, in reviewing various internet analyses, a summary historical context of the internet will focus on how the American community is being transformed by the internet advancement. The paper will also focus on the reception or reaction towards the internet by the society both positive as well as the negative ones. History of the internet can be looked from four distinctive aspects that are; technological involution aspect which was focused on the invention and development of the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network that is also simplified as ARPANET and the packet switching system.

Wait! The Internet paper is just an example!

Furthermore, this establishes the foundation of an extensive research of the path along the dimensions of scale, and performance just to mention a few. There is also the aspect of commercialization, operation, management, and social aspect (Rouse, 1).

Contrarily, the origin of the internet can be in 1962, where there is evidence of a series of memos discussing the concept of the ‘Galactic Network. The memos were the followed by public of packet switching theory paper in 1964 by Leonard Kleinrock (Leiner, 1). Kleinrock and Robert came together to discuss the possibility of communicating through using the packet switch where they would eliminate or ignore the use of the circuit. This discussion is believed to be the most important one that pioneered the invention of the internet. In their effort to explore the feasibility of the discussion, Robert happened to link the TX-2 compute existing in the mass to the prototype of the Q-32 that marked the first successful results of wide area network (Leiner, 1). In 1967, Robert presented his concept of ARPANET a computer network concept in a conference where two duos from the UK, Donald Davies and Roger Scantlebury of NPL, also presented their concept of packet network concept. Through a series of concept papers and discussion the first ARPANET came into completion and working in 1969 where the original aim was to enable one computer in a university in a researcher to talk to other research computers at other universities and this market the beginning of networking (Leiner, 1).

In the 1990s, the internet had not taken its proper roots, and it was still left for institutions (Atzori, Antonio, and Giacomo, 2084). The public used other traditional or older methods of communication such as the use of letters to send information, radios, telephones and telegrams among old mediums. Unlike nowadays where everyone has access to it including the children. In the 1990s, the internet was a very rare thing to find (Atzori, Antonio, and Giacomo, 2078). During this era, there were no technologies like the wireless network. Additionally, if you needed to go online, you were going online as an activity and after you are done with the purpose to which you were only for you had to log off go back to your normal social life (Karlson, 1). This meant that there no such things as social media and, therefore, there social life in the society was more real during that time. People would spend time together and come together as a society to solve the challenges that affected them.

In those ages, there was nothing like connecting with virtual friends whom you have never met and the only friends you had were the only people you knew physically and who were limited to the location in which you lived in. Any global information would only be gotten through radios, Newspaper, television broadcasting, or other limited resources, unlike today where all news and information are readily available in the social media (Karlson, 1).
Simultaneously, when the internet began, the society was overwhelmed by its capabilities (Otaibi, 265). It received a very warm, welcome. This is because of the power it held that it would give answers to almost every question the society had. More than fifty years later after its invention, the Internet continue to enjoy a lot of liking as the society is able to get a variety of information all from one place. The society then felt and still feels it is a great creation since it serves the great purpose and connects the world in a single unit as many would say.

Today, many especially the students feel that the internet is paramount in the field of education (Otaibi, 212). This is because the internet helps a lot in the conduction of researches as well it provides a variety of reading materials. The Internet is also very appreciated as sources of information. Through the Internet, one is able to get a variety of information such as global news, research findings among others. Nowadays the internet is advanced such that the students might not need to go to class and instead are able to interact with the teachers or lecturers online (Atzori, Antonio, and Giacomo, 2081). Most students also feel that the internet gives them self-confident. This is particularly when the students feel more comfortable in handing over their term paper and exams over the internet as compared to handing over in person.

Besides, the internet is also welcomed by a majority of individuals because as said earlier it makes the world ‘small (Otaibi, 193).’ With the current technologies and the new invention of social media, people are able to connect with their friends and relatives in different parts of the world and interact in real time unlike previously when it could only be done through the use of letters or telephones that were very expensive. There is also the use of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to connect with virtual friends parts of the world some of whom you might even never meet in a lifetime. The internet is also appreciated in the fact that it is viewed as a continuous way of learning. This is because a variety of materials can be found online, and also research findings are accessible online (Otaibi, 193). Therefore, scholars and other individuals are able to access more information that they require online. There is also the welcome of the internet as a source of employment. Various people are trained on how they could utilize or service their internet while the internet companies employ others.

Apart from the positive reactions and positive impacts of the internet, there are negative attitudes towards the same invention. Some of the attitudes are that the internet had really affected the social life in the society negatively (Otaibi, 193). This is because various people, especially, the young generating are glued to the social media or virtual friends, and they do not have time to interact with other people physically. There is also the feeling that the internet has led to increased moral degradation. This is, in the case, where the older generation is accusing the internet of bringing in alien ideas from other societies and this influence in corrosion of the moral fabrics of the community (Otaibi, 193). This could be through the use of immoral sites such as pornographic sites. The Internet is also accused of increasing crime where the main reason for this feeling is, due to, the introduction of cyber crimes. In addition to the accusation of increase in insecurity, the internet has also made networking of different terrorist groups around the global and help them in coordination their attacks. The internet also kills self-confident as various individuals, especially, the students really entirely on the internet particularly in communication, thus, losing touch with the real world (Otaibi, 193). This makes it difficult for these people to stand to inform of a crowd to do any presentation.

In conclusion, the internet can be viewed as the most successful infrastructure that has really opened up the world both in economic through online market, socially through social media, and also politically since political leaders are able to communicate. More ever, they can learn from each other in different parts of the world. The attitude towards it varied as it has been accused of negative impacts towards the society. Finally, it is also widely celebrated for its positive results in the today’s world.
