The European Union
The European Union is a representation of concerted effort aimed at promoting peace among nations in Europe after the Second World War. When the war ended, the majority of the western European countries embarked on a mission of promoting closer economic, political and social relations with the intention of achieving lasting peace, economic growth, and a secure military region. Today, the EU represents a unified trade and monetary body composed of 28 member countries. Membership to the Union eliminates any form of border control among constituents which in essence allows free flow of people and goods save for standard routine checks for any suspicious activity. Students both from the Union or from other countries enjoy the opportunity of traveling around the region to learn some things.
As a student of a short program in the Union, traveling around different countries to experience would be easy provided that I hold a visa. On the same breath, the first significant contribution of the bloc to me is the ability to travel, live and work anywhere within the Union. People from other countries outside Europe, with proper documentation, have an enshrined right to live, work, and move anywhere within the bloc. For instance, any university graduate within the Union can work anywhere since the member countries recognize the qualification from other members’ college. Upon completion of my study, I will be able to apply to work in any place within the Union since the university is EU accredited.

Wait! What does the European Union mean to me paper is just an example!

This is a great deal to mean as I will be able to work in another nation. A European citizen can work in education, health and other public sector provided that they possess the necessary qualifications. The significant additional contribution of the Union to me is the health insurance of the union that assists in medical cost coverage whenever one falls sick.
It feels humbled to be a part of a Union that promotes peace, freedom, and democracy and allow people to move from city to city and countries. As a member of the Union, I do not just enjoy the right to live, work and travel anywhere within the bloc; the Union grants me political freedom as well. Irrespective of the country of origin, every European citizen has the right to participate in the election at local or union level through voting or standing for any particular post. As a member, I also have a political reason to petition the Commission to come up with a legislative proposal if I can marshal one million people across the member states.
As for me, European Union means the promotion of fundamental rights. Within the Union’s Charter of Fundamental Rights are six essential provisions that promote rights and dignity of the members. The six heading include freedom, justice, solidarity, citizen rights, dignity and equity which define the Union’s value, civil, economic, and social rights of citizens. Of importance to under the European charter is the promotion of equal rights for both men and women. It is great to live in a region with the institutions promote equal rights and ban practices that demean others like eugenics and cloning.
Finally, the Union is essential to me as it promotes education and culture that encourages a sense of belonging. During my stay at the University, I will be able to learn and appreciate the diverse cultural practice of Europeans because the college hosts many people from different cultures.
With the few observations, the European Union means a lot to me just like other citizens of this magnificent region. Continued integration will promote the discussed benefits. All the current challenges facing the bloc should be dealt with as a way of championing for a typical course.
