Legal Protections LGBT Students
Even though in June 2015 a verdict to allow and protect the rights of the LGBT people was passed by the Supreme Court of the United States, some states such as Texas have remained rigid as far as letting these people exercise their rights. Not only students in schools but also people in the greater community in Texas are experiencing hard times when it comes to enjoying rights and privileges like people of other sexual orientation (CNN 5600). Students attending schools in this state have been denied freedom of speech, privacy and have been harassed in many ways among them being bullying and branding of names. At the same time, despite the Title IX, which is a notable federal law in education which states that students should not be harassed due to their social orientation, the state is currently on the process of passing anti-LGBT Laws.
From the situation of LGBT students in Texas schools and the current legislation, I strongly disagree with how the laws have been enforced. The reason behind this is that the LGBT people just like other people deserve to enjoy the rights and privileges of their sexual orientation (Allen 1). Besides, it is certain that before the passing of this law in 2015, thorough research was conducted by professionals such as medical practitioners and it was found that the practice is healthy and therefore can be legalized (Equaldex 1). As such, the rights of LGBT students in Texas schools are being violated.

Even though I do not agree with the law and there is nothing I can do to change it, I have to respect what the verdict of the legislators of the state. It is notable that the LGBT status in Texas is legal but still the judges and other judicial members rule against the LGBT people. This occurs when cases are presented in courts or during the legislation process. Due to this, I will advise the LGBT students to keep their relationship status private. As well, I will ask them to try and use the right channels to request management in their schools to look into this matter. Inarguably, eventually the issue will be looked into, and this will ensure a conducive learning environment.
