Nike
Nike is one of the manufacturing companies that makes a wide range of products. During the initial stages after the establishment of the company, Nike concentrated on the production of track running shoes. Currently, apart from making shoes, the firm also manufactures baselayers, shorts, jerseys and other apparels for a wide variety of sports such as basketball, ice hockey, baseball, and cricket. Some of Nike’s brand names include Nike SB, Nike ID, Nike Air Max, Chuck Nike Air Jordan and Nike Free. Some of the raw material used by Nike include organic cotton for the apparels and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) which is used in the manufacturing of shoes.
The production of Nike shoes is divided into three main categories based on the shoes. The top part is referred to as the upper, the midsole which cushions and protects the foot and the outsole. The largest portion of the midsole is made up of a combination of material such as EVA, phylon, and rubber (Kerns, n.p.). The outsole is made of a mixture of synthetic rubber compounds. Nike is working on the production of the 3D cushioning system which will allow the company to deliver a personal and performance-based cushioning system.
The reason for choosing Nike is because it produces high quality, comfortable and fashionable products. Replicating many of Nike’s products is possible. However, the company deals with this type of competition through consistently producing high-quality products since its establishment; this has allowed Nike to retain its high number customers and attract new ones.
