It is quite challenging for many nurses who have a higher degree to find jobs based on their degree. I have a co-worker who recently graduated as a nursing practitioner in psychiatry, and he could not find a job fast as expected. He had to continue working as a registered nurse before he got a job as an NP.
It is very perplexing to note that many institutions have a clinical ladder. These ladders are helpful for the nurses who believe in moving to different positions in regards to their career.
I like the residency programs since they do help the nurses in refreshing their skills and practice their critical skills. On the other hand, nursing is continuing education profession which enables individuals to be more self-reliant and proficient in their capabilities through experience and being open-minded to learning.
After watching that video, I realized how important it for then nurses to make patients feel at ease as well as being always present for them. As nurses, we at times tend to neglect the patients because of the workload hence being absent at the times when the patients need us most. Human contact is vital when advancing care to the patients (LeGrow & Espin, 2017).
Courage is one of the characteristics that I need most for me to realize my career goals. In fact, I believe that this is the character that will make me succeed to realizing those career goals.

Nurses can move up on the clinical ladder if they have the ambitions to move up and progress in their careers.

It is expected that the more one goes up the career ladder, the more they become knowledgeable. Further, how well they overcome their challenges determines how far they will go. However, the expectations are high for the individuals who are the upper side of the clinical ladder. Therefore, more is required from those who have acquired more knowledge. It is important to note one can still go to their preceptor for help whenever they are in need. I wish I could say the same since my preceptor is no longer working for that company where we met, but she is my friend, and we do communicate at times about how to handle difficult situations at work. She has been a psychiatry nurse for more than seven years; she has been a witness to a lot of bad situations at the workplace, and she is still my coach. As you had mentioned earlier, I am quite captivated since you are coaching your sister. I am coaching my friend that I met in nursing school. We have a long way to go, and I find it necessary for me to continue coaching her.
I agree with you on the fact that many facilities should have residency programs. These programs will help the new graduates to have a better expectation of their job and how to go day to day activities. However, they still must continue their education journey and build the competencies of the nursing practitioners.
It is essential for the nurses to be present at all times for the patients and have the right words to say to them when they are in need. The presence of the nurses at care centres is very crucial. As you mentioned in your example, death it is a very complex step in life, and everybody different based on their culture. It is quite difficult to find the right words to express myself on how the patients do need our presence. This video emphasizes on how to be present for the patients since it is the right thing to do (LeGrow & Espin, 2017).
The most essential character that serves as a change agent needed for the nurses is courage.
