Educational and Career Goals. Developing appropriate skills in life needs a better practice that would lead one to successful endeavors. I am majoring in Criminal Justice. I have always been interested in a course that would help combat injustices and criminality, especially where I come from. For me to succeed in this field, I need to work hard and focus on my education, which will help me relate what I would love to do with my desire and motive to help others. My interest in Criminal Justice has grown from high school. My father has always taught and advised m about criminal justice, allowing me to read many books and journals concerning crime and watch how people debate about injustices around the world (Light 81). Being aware of such, I developed a motive that to help in making a better society, studying this course is the way to go. Since then I have always stayed focused on every aspect of my education to achieve my career in criminal justice. I have always participated in core curricular activities that have also assisted me in staying focused. I love playing hockey. It is a vigorous game that one must remain disciplined all through, stick to the rules, be accurate and actively participate in teamwork. Apart from sports, I am very socializing, and I volunteer most of my free time in charity work. This has also helped me improve some abilities in handling difficult matters, manage time and finding solutions to problems. It always feels good to help and share knowledge with others to make the society a better place.

My family, especially my father, has always inspired me to live a righteous life and find justice. Since childhood, my father has inspired my career by demonstrating to our family how it is important to work hard and accomplish projects. Having a powerful, ambitious, multi-gifted father around has changed my perception of life and education in many ways, and I am very grateful. My father had struggled with us, even at a time when the family had little or more, we still shared whatever they family has. Growing with the mentality that we work with what we have has enabled me to live a decent quality life. I am so grateful about my father and admire him so much due to how he handles issues in our family; he encourages everyone around him and the fact that he believes in honesty and hard work. Through his guidance, I have developed a habit of creating my opportunities and strive to accomplish the impossible.
I come from a Colombian family, a country involved in political turmoil and gross violation of human rights. This has always motivated me into pursuing a profession in criminal justice. Since I began my course, my need to obtain a degree has always remained optimistic that it will open doors and solve matters in the world of criminology. I study so many books concerning ordinary people who are successful and have accomplished extraordinary things through dedication and hard work. I want to contribute to the society by being successful in my course and help out in cases where people have lost hope. I intend to be a representation of protection and justice for everyone.
I am an immigrant, and this has always been my challenge to attend college. I emigrated from Colombia at a tender age. Even though I knew English, I was not used to their school system and their curriculum. My father and I had to work on this to understand better the process of attending college. I had to be taught by a school advisor on attaining a college education or find the scholarship to afford my school fee. I have learned all of the strategies that would help me achieve my education.
The first thing that I do to overcome the challenge of being an immigrant is to stay informed regarding the new immigration laws. This is because; laws that help the extension of lawful privileges to citizens’ migrant family members assist improving all their loyalty to their communities and allegiance to America. Lawmakers can do more to assist mixed-nationality families’ safe, legal citizenship for everyone. Staying informed of these laws has enabled our family to live secure and made my education endeavors successful.
I am a low-income student, and my family has struggled to afford my education. My parents do not have a stable income, and maintaining the house budget and paying bills has not been well including my education expenses. My mother is a hair stylist and cleaning house for the elderly; she was overwhelming herself. Therefore, I decided to help her operate the cleaning business when I finished my high school. This has helped us cover family’s basic expenditures. Moreover, I have constantly looked for more work and searching for scholarships, which will assist me, afford my education. I remain grateful to find chances like the one your foundation is offering students.
