Sheryl Sandberg in her book Lean In presents a critical subject of discussion in the world today. In her presentation, Sandberg is keen to tackle this issue with the depth it requires. This book is a form of inspiration to women as Sheryl talks about aspects of her life and that of other women who have made it and others who are making it work in the male-dominated world. After a long study of the coyness of the female in the work industry, Sheryl is driven to write explicitly to women asking them the question of what they would accomplish if they were not afraid. The realization that the change that came with the fight for women rights has opened numerous channels for the female in the world today results in a positive response to that question (Sandberg 1-20). The fact presented by Sandberg is that with the support of one another and getting rid of fear as well as self-doubt we can do so much even more than the men.
Gender disparity is a global topic of study that has spurred a lot of talks even to the highest places of governance. The facts presented by this book are right in a world that nurtures women to believe there are specific ways to behave and act that is different from men. By addressing the women who are the ones who suffer from being discriminated against the novel is creating the desired impact of waking them from their shelves of lack of confidence to a world that is ready to accommodate their prowess.

The globe has changed with the realization of the fight for rights that women are nowadays getting compared to their male counterparts (Sandberg 1-20). It is high time females asserted themselves further because the fact is that if they ceased being fearful, then the world would have gone more significant milestones.
Sandberg argues that the society nurtures woman in a way that contributes to the underlying fear and self-doubt that they develop when they are grown up. Moreover, she supports this claim by highlighting the fact that when boys and girls are born there are specific gender norms that each of them are meant to interact with right from birth. Differentiating these roles to the two sexes from an earlier age is like a fixation that prohibits one gender from doing what the other does. This practice is found to ruin the girls who fail to learn assertiveness and the competitive nature of the world. As a result, the lack of confidence that is required to land leadership positions amongst fellow men (Sandberg 1-20). This claim has a strong connection to the thesis since nurture contributes to an aspect of fear that Sheryl is trying to discourage in women.
This claim by Sandberg is valid. The fact that gender norms instilled in women dictate the extent to which they fight for positions of power is correct. Women are meant to be pretty and take care of families fully by performing feminine duties required of them by the society. Currently, the world expects the same women to look for jobs in the competitive world full of men. The final expectation is that the woman has to manage to juggle both roles perfectly without failure. Facts like these are the lead contributors in discouraging the woman from pursuing their career goals and dreams because they do not want the society to view them as failures (Sandberg 1-20). However, the encouragement by Sheryl shows that it is possible to do all that is required of women since the community has already designated it in that manner. Self-drive, hard work and determination are the footstools.
