Professor Smith’s presentation explores the reasons as to why one will be unsuccessful in obtaining a great career. According to my analysis of the video, I picked three points that I think are Professor Smith’s main arguments in the presentation. Firstly, he says that people make decisions not to pursue their passion, dreams, and their greatest fascination in their life so as to attain a great career. Therefore, it does not matter how many times people try to advise you on the channel of achieving a great career since you will always look for excuses as to why you will not pursue a great career. Secondly, Smith touches on the people who try to find their passion, but they finally fail due to equating it to interest. Thus, he claims that passion is beyond interest and one needs to look for alternatives so as to find their destiny. Lastly, Professor Smith talks of those people who find their passion but still end up failing in attaining a great career. He claims that the individuals who fall under this group fail because they value human relationships than accomplishments. Therefore, they would prefer having great friends, a great spouse, great parents and great children for pursuing a great career.
Personally, I uphold the three points presented by Professor Smith. On the first point, many scholars have failed to attain their great careers because they make decisions not to pursue their passion despite being given pieces of advice on the channels to follow for them to attain their greatest dreams successfully.

Secondly, I shall avoid providing lame excuses as some of the reasons as to why I cannot achieve my set career targets. On the same note, I shall look beyond my interests and look for different alternatives of pursuing my passion for the next five years. Lastly, I shall try my level best to value my accomplishments for human relationships. Therefore, great friends, a great spouse, great parents and great children will all come second to my career goals.

Angela Duckworth’s presentation touches on grit as the key to success. According to my analysis of the video, I picked three points that I think are Angela Duckworth’s main arguments in the presentation. Firstly, she claims that the element we requisite in schooling is the much better indulgent of apprentices and erudition from a motivational and psychosomatic standpoint. Secondly, the speaker touches on grit and says that it is the predictor of success. On the same note, she says that social astuteness, good appearances, physical wellbeing, and I.Q are all not success predictors and cannot be compared to grit. Therefore, grit is seen to be the desire and persistence for long-term goals and living life as if it is an epic and not a race. She says the shocking thing about grit is how little we know and how little science knows about building it. Lastly, she says that the best idea of building grit in kids is through growth mindset. The idea is based on the notion that the aptitude to study is not static and it can be altered with one’s exertions. Therefore one needs to be willing to fail and be wrong so as to start again with lessons learned.

Secondly, grit has made many students be determined and undergo perseverance so as to achieve their career goals. Therefore, this makes grit to be different from the aspect of I.Q in the issue of predicting success. Lastly, I think grit can be developed through growth mindset among youngsters. The reason behind this is because when youngsters learn about the intelligence and how it cultivates in rejoinder to the trial, they are likely to endure when they nosedive since they do not believe that fiasco is a protruding condition.
I shall apply the following three techniques so as to enable me to realize the type of determination it takes to thrive in my profession and peculiar life.
